FRSC launches volunteer crash unit in Zamfara

The Federal Roads Safety Corps has established a National Post-Crash Care Volunteers Initiative in the Damba community of Gusau LGA.
FRSC sector commander in Zamfara, Aliyu Maaji, who inaugurated the volunteers’ group on Monday, said the initiative is in line with the community engagement strategy to partner with FRSC in traffic control, rescue, and management.
Mr Maaji said the idea behind the post-crash volunteers was to complement regular marshals’ efforts to reduce road crashes.
He said that the process that led to the formation of the volunteer started when Damba youths reported frequent road crashes to the command.
“On receiving the complaint, the command mobilised and visited the area for spot assessment, and promised the community support.
“The command is today, launching the selected dedicated youths, who would be trained on post-crash rescue in the event of an accident,” he said
He expressed the command’s commitment to establishing additional volunteer groups to complement the operations of regular marshals in road traffic management.
