FRSC recovers vehicle stolen from Edo church

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Intelligence-Diven Patrol of the Iruekpen Unit Command, Edo, has recovered a vehicle stolen from the premises of a church in the state capital.
This is contained in a statement on Sunday in Abuja, by the corps Public Education Officer (CPEO), Osondu Ohaeri.
Mr Ohaeri said that the vehicle was recovered on Sunday following a distress report received by the patrol team.
He said that the vehicle with registration number RBC 987 CM, was reportedly stolen from on a church premises in Benin City earlier in the day.
“Upon receiving detailed information about the stolen vehicle, the patrol team immediately activated its intelligence and surveillance network, strategically monitoring vehicular movements along major routes within its operational corridor.
“Through a combination of vigilance, professionalism and effective patrol coordination, the vehicle was subsequently sighted and intercepted.
“Howeve, the suspect found in possession of the vehicle claimed to be a delivery agent, but following preliminary investigations, he was apprehended and handed over to the police and taken into custody for further interrogation,” he said.
The CPEO added that the recovered vehicle was secured, pending identification and handover to its rightful owner.
According to him, the successful recovery highlights the growing impact of FRSC patrol operations in crime reduction across the country.
He said that beyond traffic management and road safety enforcement, FRSC patrol teams served as vital eyes and ears on the highways.
“These patrol teams contribute significantly to the detection of stolen vehicles, apprehension of criminal suspects, rescue of crash victims, and provision of timely intelligence to relevant security agencies.
“This proactive approach continues to strengthen public safety, deter criminal activities, and enhance confidence in the nation’s road transportation system,” he also said.
Mr Ohaeri encoraged motorists and citizens to promptly report suspicious activities and emergencies through FRSC’s established communication channels for immediate intervention.
He quoted the corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed, as commending the swift response of the patrol and it’s personnel
Mr Mohammed noted that the recovery further underscored the critical role of FRSC patrol operations not only in ensuring safer roads but also in supporting national security efforts through intelligence gathering and inter-agency collaboration.
