The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) says it will soon embark on an operation to impound vehicles without speed limiting devices, according to the Taraba Sector Command. 

The Sector Commander, Selina Williams, disclosed this in an interview in Jalingo on Friday.

Ms Williams said the measure had become imperative, following an increase in the rate of road crashes arising from excessive speed and other traffic offences.

“The corps has concluded plans to clamp down on all vehicles without speed limiting devices.

“We will also impound vehicles which indulge in overloading, operating with old number plates as well as those that commit other traffic offences.
“The essence of the operation is to reduce the rate of road crashes on our roads,” she said.

The Taraba FRSC boss urged motorists in the state to go online to obtain the speed limiting devices to avoid incurring the wrath of the law.

She advised speed limiting devices’ vendors to set up businesses in the state to make the item accessible to motorists.
