An Instagram user and social media personality, @General_Hollu, has alleged that some unidentified military officers assaulted, abducted and robbed two party attendees of their valuables at a show in the Eleyele area of Ibadan, Oyo State.

In two separate videos, he narrated the victims’ experience while attending the Jameson City Takeover show held on Saturday, April 25, at the Ibadan Polo Club.

He stated that two male attendees, who travelled from Osun State to Ibadan for the event, were allegedly accosted at the club’s entrance, had their phones seized and were allegedly beaten by a group of unknown soldiers.

“Some officers of the Nigerian Army kidnapped and robbed some guys of their valuables at the Jameson party held in Ibadan on 25th of April, 2026, at the Polo Club around Eleyele. The two guys came from Osun State when they heard that Jameson will be having a party in Oyo State,” @General_Hollu said.

“While these guys were waiting, three soldiers approached them. One of the soldiers just suddenly snatched one of the (two) guys’ phones. The (affected) guy said “Why will you take my phone? What have I done? Then they (soldiers) replied ‘Are you okay?’ So the other person was trying to say ‘What did he do?’ There, they snatched his phone too. Then the (guys) were like, ‘What have we done?’ Then they started beating them at the front of the Polo Club,” the content creator said.

He added that the two victims reportedly met two other extortion victims in a black Hilux van they were taken to.

According to the Instagram personality, the unknown soldiers drove the victims away from the party in the Hilux vehicle and abandoned them in a bush, where their money, phones, jewelry and clothes were forcibly taken from them.

“On getting to the black Hilux, they met two guys there. So those soldiers asked them to also sit on the floor. These soldiers forced them into the vehicle and drove them away. They said they had to bend their heads and were beaten as though they were criminals. When these guys would open their eyes, they said they should come down from the Hilux, only to find themselves in a bush,” Hollu stated.

“Those soldiers now said they should unlock their phones. So they started changing their iCloud. They locked out those guys’ iCloud, four of them. After collecting some of their chains, wristwatch and phones, they still took all of their clothes. They told these guys that if they are killed nobody will know, reminding them that when they were beating them at the Polo Club nobody interfered,” he stated.

The Instagram user said the four victims were reportedly rescued by Amotekun operatives after they were dropped in an unknown location, along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

“When these guys will start running, they saw some Amotekun officers. It was then they realised they were taken to somewhere along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway from Polo Club. It was the Amotekun corps that gave them clothes and told them to stay. They now called their families who came to pick them up in the morning,” he said.

In a further update on the matter on Wednesday, Mr Hollu said a female attendee reached out to him, narrating how she was similarly harassed by the same group of soldiers at the event.

The lady, @explore.Ibadan, who has since narrated her experience in a Tiktok post said she was assaulted by one of the soldiers after making a request to make her way out of the crowded party.

“I didn’t do anything. The place was crowded. I was just trying to say please excuse me and make my way. I wasn’t seeing him in a uniform. The next thing he said was ‘Are you mad? Why are you telling an officer to excuse you? He would embarrass me, he would disgrace me,” the lady said in a voice chat shared with the Instagram personality.

“He just said be going, he hit me and poured a drink of alcohol in my eyes. So, after I washed my face, I felt like I must get his video to know who he is,” she said.

A short clip of the scene, discreetly captured by the aggrieved female participant, showed a man in a military camouflage trouser believed to be one of the soldiers and another angry man, saying ‘I didn’t do anything. You collected my phone.’

The Instagram personality told the Peoples Gazette on Saturday that the matter had been reported to the police, adding that plans were underway to also write a petition to the Nigerian Army and other concerned authorities.

“I have reported it to the police and by next week, we are writing a petition, to be submitted to the army and others,” he stated.

The incident has drawn multiple reactions among netizens, with many expressing concerns over the recent alleged human rights abuse and the conduct of military officers. 

Reacting, @ibadandog_petsstore, an Instagram user, described the incident as concerning, urging that appropriate actions must be taken to investigate the incident.

“Situations like this can damage trust and discourage people from attending future events. We kindly ask that this matter be looked into urgently, and that appropriate actions are taken to investigate and address the issue,” the user stated.

Another Instagram user, @schovic_ginjah, expressed concern over the alleged misconduct of the soldiers, noting that officers were supposed to protect ordinary Nigerians.

“I can’t believe what my ears are hearing right now. People that are meant to be protecting are now robbing and dehumanising citizens for absolutely nothing,” he stated.

An eyewitness, @Veracooks said, “The soldiers slapped them and even a guy in white twice. They followed the soldiers because the guys said they collected their phones. One of the soldiers brought out his pistol after slapping him. No one knew exactly what was going on.”

“I saw the military men beating those folks bro. I couldn’t help them. The guy came to me asking if they were real soldiers but I looked away don’t wanna get involved,” another eyewitness, @Olaoye marvellous Phillip, said.

Contacted on whether the Oyo State police command received a petition on the matter and had begun probe into the incident, the command’s spokesperson, Ayanlade Olayinka, said he only heard about the incident but could not ascertain if the command had received any petition on the matter.

“I partly heard about the story. Hollu said he was going to petition. I don’t know if he has petitioned or not,” Mr Olayinka said.
