Governor Dikko Radda inaugurated on Monday the construction of three road projects worth more than N20 billion in the Funtua LGA.

Flagging off the road construction, Mr Radda said one of the projects was the dualisation of a 5.9-kilometre Sokoto road at the cost of N12.8 billion.

He said the Sokoto road project would be handled by the Mother Cat Construction Company Limited, with a completion period of 18 months.

He added that the 3.9-kilometre Katsina-Funtua dual carriage would gulp N8 billion with a 12-month completion period.

“The rehabilitation and upgrade of the 1.2-kilometre Tsohuwar Kasuwa road project, which will consume more than N637 million, will be completed within six months,” the governor said.

The governor has also launched the construction of a 52-kilometre Kunduru-Radda-Tsakasa-Ganuwa road in Charanchi and Kankia local government areas.

He was also expected to commission the dualised Kofar Soro-Kofar Guga road project, which had been completed.

Mr Radda said it was not only about road building; “we are also committed to creating an environment that will foster economic growth and development.”

Earlier, the managing director of the construction company, Jack Najal, commended the state government and the people of the state for the opportunity to contribute to the development of the state.

Mr Najal promised to deliver quality work while ensuring that the project would be completed within the agreed period, with the support of the government and the people of the area.

Sambo Idris-Sambo, the Sarkin Maskan Katsina and district head of Funtua, said the project would certainly propel the area’s development.

He said Funtua had been yearning for such development many years ago; however, he gave glory to God Almighty that the road project had finally been inaugurated.

Mr Idris-Sambo assured the state government and the contractor of the necessary support to ensure a smooth and successful project.
