Ganduje launches Kano policing committee to monitor strange people

Governor Abdullahi Ganduje has set up a community-oriented policing committee to monitor the movement of ”strange people” in Rano Emirate.
Mr Ganduje disclosed this when he received the Emir of Rano, Kabiru Inuwa, at the Government House, Kano.
”The committee will be set up in Rano Emirate, which houses the largest forest of Falgore in the state. We will also set up the same committees in other parts of the state,” said the governor.
Mr Ganduje explained that the committee’s primary focus would be to monitor strangers.
He said, “This strategy will strengthen our security architecture. The plan is for the communities to put more eyes on strangers, to know who is coming and from where.”
He assured that the committees would be under the direct supervision of Rano emir.
Mr Ganduje then urged the public to be peaceful and support security agencies to keep the state safe. He also promised to rehabilitate the emir’s old palace abandoned decades ago.
Responding, Mr Inuwa thanked Ganduje for developing the area, urging him to do more.
Earlier this month, Mr Ganduje raised the alarm that bandits were regrouping in Falgore forest and called on the military to take urgent action against the gathering.
“I am also here to seek the help of the Nigerian Army to sustain the peace in Kano state. Bandits have converted some forests in the state to hideouts.
“We are building houses, schools, and hospitals for the herdsmen in some of the forests, but we want the army to commence activities at the Falgore forest,” Mr Ganduje had pleaded.
