Two men, Kingsley Ozor and Jeffery Otaigbe, have been arrested for allegedly killing an 11-year-old girl, Innocent, in Gomoa Buduburam in Ghana’s Central Region.

In a statement on Friday, Victor Kofi Dosoo, the police spokesperson for the Central East Region, said the minor went missing on Saturday.

He said the suspects, Mr Ozor, an auto-body repairer, and his apprentice, Mr Otaigbe, were arrested on Monday following a report to the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit at about 12:40 p.m.

“Preliminary investigation established that, on 17th October 2026, at about 8:30 a.m., the deceased visited suspects Kingsley Ozor and his apprentice, Jeffery Otaigbe, who are both neighbours, and that happened to be the last place she was seen,” Mr Dosoo said.

According to him, police investigations led to the arrest of the suspects on Tuesday. He said the suspects admitted that the deceased had been with them that day.

“Further probe into the circumstances leading to the disappearance of the now deceased victim revealed that suspect Jeffery Otaigbe lured the deceased into an uncompleted building near an estate community and sexually abused her until he realised she had become lifeless,” he explained.

He noted that the suspect led the police to the location where the body was hidden beneath some shrubs.

Mr Dosoo said the police had recovered the body and conveyed it to the morgue at St. Gregory Catholic Hospital, adding that arrangements were underway for an autopsy to be conducted at the police hospital.

He added that the suspects were in police custody as further investigations continued.
