GISTS-OF-THE-WEEK: Omojuwa, Ezekwesilis bicker over Chimamanda’s piece, Tope Alabi’s “Oniduro” saga, other stories

During the week, social media influencer Japhet Omojuwa and Dr Obiageli Ezekwesili’s son, Chuba Ezekwesili engage themselves in an online bicker on Twitter over Chimamanda Adichie’s recently released piece “It is obscene”.
The interesting piece by the remarkable Nigerian feminist revealed her unflattering experience with other young “ingrate” writers who she described are “choking on sanctimony and lacking in compassion.”
However, the duo of Omojuwa and Chuba in reference to the piece exchanged direct jabs at themselves as they dragged and accused each other of possessing the same cynical and ungrateful character mentioned in the piece.
“Those who will desperately insert their holier than thou mom, those who will miss the point, those who will intentionally misunderstand her, whatever you do, sha read this! || Chimamanda.com | IT IS OBSCENE: A TRUE REFLECTION IN THREE PARTS,” Omojuwa tweeted shadingly.
Hello @Omojuwa,
I’m grateful to see you professing empathy, however, it’s important you cultivate self-awareness.
Because in case you’re not aware — this paragraph by @ChimamandaReal describes you.
So please, take responsibility, change — be better. Chuba retweeted an initial tweet from his brother Chinemelum Ezekwesili.
Last weekend, Nigerian gospel artist Tope Alabi publicly criticised raving-making gospel song “Oniduro mi” sung by her colleagues Tolu Adelegan and Yinka Alaseyori.

Tope Alabi’s criticism of fellow colleagues’ song went viral. She implied that God was more than just a guarantor and also claimed the Holy Spirit has cautioned her against singing the song in the past.
The video generated a lot of disappointing reactions from fans of Alabi and other celebrities who mostly claimed Alabi’s criticism may be as a result of envy towards her colleagues.
However, in search of peace and reconciliation, the embattled gospel artist came forward to tender a public apology to her colleagues.
Nigerian rapper Remilekun Abdulkalid popularly known as Reminisce recently announced his new album will be released in August 2021.

“Album no 5! ALAYE TOH SE GOGO AUGUST 2021,” he tweeted.
The album titled “Alaye Toh Se Go Go” will be his fifth album and a follow up of his last EP “Vibes and Insha Allah”.
The court denied popular yoruba actor, Olarenwaju James aka Baba Ijesha bail.

The actor who was in police custody for over a month and eventually got released on the basis of poor health condition was recently arraigned in court on Wednesday June 16, 2021 at Yaba Magistrate Court and denied bail.
Baba Ijesha was charged with indecent treatment of a child, defilement of a child, sexual assault by penetration, attempted sexual assault by penetration, and sexual assault.
