GOC reaffirms commitment to interagency cooperation for operational success

Bemgba Koughna, the general officer commanding, 8 Division, Nigerian Army, Sokoto, reaffirmed the commitment to inter-agency cooperation and continuous professional development within the Nigerian Armed Forces.
He made the remark when he received participants of the Air Force War College Course 12/2026 on a national study tour to formations in Sokoto on Tuesday.
The GOC welcomed the commandant, directing staff, and participants, and urged them to explore the division’s activities, especially its efforts to restore peace in the region.
Mr Koughna said the division was established out of necessity in recognition of the security challenges being countered through Operation FANSAN YAMMA and other security activities in the North West.
In his remarks, the college’s commandant, Gambo Mbaka, said the tour was aimed at deepening participants’ understanding of operational and strategic air power in support of civil authority and national development.
Mr Mbaka highlighted the tour’s operational framework, adding that participants were divided into three teams for coordinated field engagements.
He said Team A is in Sokoto, Team B is in Kebbi, and Team C is in Zamfara.
The commandant restated that the tour would provide firsthand exposure to the security challenges in Northwest Nigeria, showcasing the collaborative efforts of 8 Division, Nigerian Army, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, and other security agencies in countering security challenges in the North-West region.
