Governor Umaru Bago of Niger State has condoled with residents of Bagna, Erena, and Yelwa communities in Shiroro Local Government Area following a deadly bandit attack that claimed lives and destroyed homes.

In a condolence message issued on Wednesday by his spokesperson, Bologi Ibrahim, the governor condemned the attack, describing it as a setback to the government’s security efforts.

Mr Bago also described the attack as heinous and callous.

He said, “These renewed attacks on our people are heart-wrenching. I deeply sympathise with the entire people of Shiroro, especially the affected communities, over the unfortunate and unwarranted attacks.”

“I want to assure you that you are not alone; I share in your pain as well as your losses,” he added.

The governor, while commending the joint security team for mobilising and engaging the bandits, also condoled with the families of those who paid the supreme price.

Mr Bago stated that his administration would never surrender to bandits, adding that support for security agencies would continue to be prioritised to ensure improved and proactive operations across the state.

He urged affected residents to remain calm, stay vigilant, and promptly provide credible intelligence to security agencies to prevent a recurrence of such attacks.
