Gov. Inuwa Yahaya wins APC Gombe North senatorial ticket

The Governor of Gombe State, Inuwa Yahaya, has secured the All Progressives Congress (APC) ticket to contest the Gombe-North senatorial district election in 2027.
The APC also declared Ahmed Muhammed and Jerry Damara as its flagbearers for the Gombe-Central and Gombe-South senatorial elections, respectively.
Mr Yahaya emerged as the winner after scoring 131,009 votes in the party’s direct primaries, while Mr Muhammed polled 89,450 votes and Mr Damara garnered 56,687 votes, respectively.
Labiru Kafur, chairman of the APC primary election committee, announced the results on Tuesday in Gombe.
He said the exercise was conducted on Monday in a peaceful and transparent manner among card-carrying party members in line with its guidelines.
Mr Kafur said the results from polling units were transferred to designated collation centres in the three districts for final compilation and declaration.
He said the declaration for the Gombe-North senatorial district was held at the Kwami Local Government Council Secretariat, Gombe-Central at the Akko LGC secretariat, and Gombe-South at the Kaltungo LGC secretariat.
The chairman said the candidates satisfied the statutory requirements and secured the highest number of valid votes cast in their respective districts.
“The committee stands by these decentralised field declarations, which confirm them as the official APC flag bearers for the general election,” he said.
