Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara has directed the total  upgrade of Dansadau Primary Healthcare Centre (PHC) in Maru Local Government Area.

Mr Lawal gave the directive during an inspection visit to the facility on  Thursday, where he also interacted with the health workers.

He directed that the facility upgrade should include the provision of WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene) facilities, as part of efforts to strengthen primary healthcare delivery in the state.

The governor emphasised the state government’s commitment to prioritising public health and improving access to quality healthcare, especially at the grassroots.

He stated that the expansion of the PHC would enhance service delivery, ensuring that residents of Dansadau and surrounding communities received better healthcare services.

During the visit, Mr Lawal paid a courtesy call on  the Dansadau Emirate Council, underscoring his administration’s commitment to inclusive governance and community engagement.

Mr Lawal, who was received by an unprecedented crowd along major communities leading to Dansadau town, was later conferred with the traditional title of ‘Garkuwan Dansadau’ by the Emir of Dansadau, Garba Sarkin Kudu.

Mr Lawal was the second sitting governor to visit the Dandsadau community after former Governor Ahmed Yarima.

Dansadau had been among the epicentres of insecurity, particularly banditry, kidnapping and cattle rustling in Zamfara.

Also, during the visit, the governor inspected the ongoing construction of the 108-kilometre Gusau to Dansadau Road, awarded by the administration.

Meanwhile, Sulaiman Idris, spokesperson for Mr Lawal, said the governor’s visit to Dansadau was part of his commitment to bringing development to the communities at the grassroots.

According to Mr Idris, the warm reception Lawal received demonstrated the growing support of the people for the state government, driven by its many development initiatives under the Zamfara Rescue Mission.

On her part, the commissioner for health, Nafisa Maradun, commended the governor for his dedication to public health in the state.

Ms  Maradun described the directive for the total overhaul of the Dansadau PHC as a clear demonstration of the state government’s commitment to revitalising healthcare infrastructure in the state.

According to her, the directive reflected the state government’s ongoing efforts to strengthen primary healthcare facilities and improve health outcomes for the citizens.
