Gov. Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau, on Wednesday, swore in a new head of service (HoS), Stephen Gadong, 10 permanent secretaries, and 12 other senior appointees of the state and tasked them with accountability and transparency.

Other senior officials sworn in were three special advisers and nine senior special assistants.

Mr Mutfwang congratulated the appointees and urged them to dedicate themselves and be diligent in their service to the state.

The governor, particularly, congratulated the new head of service, whom he said was coming in at a very critical moment in the history of the service.

“Over the last several weeks, we have diligently perused their credentials; we profiled them without their knowledge.

“We made sure we came up with this crop of men and women we believe are going to be the seed for the new civil service we are building.

“So your job is clearly cut out for you. We are going to be insisting on excellence, we are going to be insisting on value addition, and we are going to be insisting on accountability.

“We are going to stretch you and make sure that you can compete with your peers anywhere in the country.

“We are looking out for competent Plateau people; wherever they are, we will bring them home to add value to what we are doing,” he said.

Mr Gadong, who spoke on behalf of the appointees, promised to do their best to meet the expectations of the governor.

The HoS said that the appointments were not only a great honour, but also a call to duty and a charge to serve the people of Plateau with integrity, diligence, and dedication.

“We are fully aware of the weight of our responsibilities, and we pledge to give our very best in ensuring that the civil service remains an efficient, effective, and responsive institution under your visionary leadership.

“Your excellency, you have demonstrated remarkable leadership, foresight, and dedication to the betterment of our state, and we are deeply inspired by your vision.

“We assure you of our complete loyalty to your administration; we will work with all stakeholders to translate your vision into reality,” he said.
