A lawmaker, Nkemkanma Kama, has said Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Nwifuru, does not force people to join the ruling All Progressives Congress.
Mr Kama represents Ohaozara/Onicha/ Ivo Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives on the platform of Labour Party.
He was reacting to the defections from the opposition political parties to the APC as he inspected projects he embarked on in his constituency on Friday.
The lawmaker said that talks about the possibility of defecting to APC were irrelevant because was concentrating on delivering dividends of democracy to his constituents.
He said, “We do not dwell on party politics in Ebonyi State as the governor has made things easy and simple for everyone. He is only interested in leaders joining him to develop the state no matter their party affiliation. He is deeply interested in performance and not where anyone is coming from.’’
He said the notion in Ebonyi was humanity before any other thing, adding that every other thing was secondary.
Mr Kama said it was unfortunate that some Nigerians were holding the National Assembly responsible for Nigeria’s economic challenges.
He stated, “We are only legislators and cannot give more than that. Our primary assignment is to make laws.”
