Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Ododo, has donated advanced security gadgets to the state polytechnic, covering both the Lokoja and Itakpe campuses.

The donation, which included modern Close Circuit Television (CCTV) surveillance cameras, lithium-powered torch lights, and rapid response scooters, was aimed at strengthening the institution’s security infrastructure.

The contractor, Sani Isah, handed over the security gadgets to the polytechnic management on Tuesday in Lokoja.

Mr Isah noted that the initiative was a testament to Mr Ododo’s commitment to enhancing safety and security in tertiary institutions across Kogi State.

He said that the items were carefully selected to meet the specific security needs of the institution.

Mr Isah stated, “The CCTV cameras providing real-time monitoring, lithium-powered torch lights supporting night patrols, and rapid response scooters ensuring swift mobility in emergency situations.’’

The polytechnic rector, Prof. Salisu Usman, thanked the governor for the timely and strategic intervention.

Mr Usman stressed the significant impact the items would have on the institution’s internal security framework.

He commended the governor’s commitment to the institution’s security architecture, referencing recent infrastructural achievements such as the historic fencing of the Itakpe campus.

The rector maintained that the donated security gadgets would help prevent internal disturbances, ward off intruders, and maintain peace and order on the campuses.

He pledged that the Polytechnic would ensure the judicious use of the items, highlighting their critical role in sustaining a peaceful and conducive academic environment.
