Gov Ododo hails security agencies for rescuing 17 kidnapped passengers

The Kogi government has commended the swift response of security agencies and local hunters who rescued 17 passengers kidnapped along the Lokoja-Obajana road.
Information commissioner Kingsley Fanwo, in a statement on Thursday, praised the prompt intervention of the Nigerian Army and local hunters, who pursued the abductors and ensured the safe release of all passengers.
He noted that the victims were travelling in a 17-seater bus from Osun to Abuja when they were intercepted by kidnappers along the Obajana-Lokoja Road.
Mr Fanwo said the rescued victims had since been taken to medical facilities for examination and care.
“The government’s swift response and coordination with security agencies have been credited with the successful rescue operation,” he said.
The Kogi government also expressed deep concerns over the reported attack on security operatives in Yagba West LGA on Wednesday, which resulted in the death of some police officers.
The Kogi government extended condolences to the families of the slain officers, describing them as gallant men who paid the supreme price in the line of duty.
The commissioner reaffirmed the Governor Ahmed Ododo administration’s determination to rid the state of criminal elements.
Mr Fanwo assured that personnel and security equipment are being deployed to strategic locations to restore security.
The government urged residents to cooperate with security operatives by providing timely and useful information, stressing that the perpetrators of the attacks would be brought to justice.
The government reiterated its determination to counter those who sought to disrupt the peace in Kogi.
“The government of Kogi State will never submit to acts of terror. Together with the support of the people and commitment of our security agencies, we will overcome those who seek to disrupt the peace of our land.”
