Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta on Tuesday revealed that he was yet to conclude on contesting the 2023 presidential election.

“As of today, I have not made up my mind whether to contest for the presidential election. The important thing is not about myself,” Mr Okowa said.

Mr Okowa said it was more important to seek solutions to the country’s challenges than nursing presidential ambition.

The governor spoke when he visited former president Olusegun Obasanjo in Abeokuta, Ogun state capital.

A statement issued by Kehinde Akinyemi, a media aide to Mr Obasanjo, said the governor was in Abeokuta on a private visit to share ideas with the former president on Nigeria’s situation and some issues relating to Delta.

Mr Okowa called on the federal government to tap from the wealth of experience of past and present Nigerian leaders to solve the problems of the nation.

“It is time that Nigeria’s past and present leaders, with other critical stakeholders, came together to discuss our challenges and proffer solutions.

“We need the collective efforts of all at this period. As it stands today, the APC-led government cannot deal with the challenges alone.

“We need far-reaching consultations, not only with those in government, but also with those outside government, particularly those who had been part of running this country,” Mr Okowa was quoted as saying.
