Anambra State Governor, Chukwuma Soludo, has inaugurated a rehabilitation and elderly care home on Friday to improve social welfare and healthcare services for vulnerable citizens in the state.

The facility, Seraphic Psychiatric Hospital and Old People’s Home, is in Aguleri, Anambra East Local Government Area, and aims to support mental health and elderly care.

Built through a public-private-community partnership by the founder of Zion Prayer Movement Outreach, Ebuka Obi, the hospital reflects collaboration between government and private individuals.

At the ceremony, Mr Soludo urged Christians to embody true Christianity by uplifting the poor and forgotten, emphasising the importance of giving and community support.

He lauded Mr Obi for his vision, pledged monthly financial support, a transformer for stable electricity, and the construction of an access road to the facility.

Mr Soludo called on individuals and corporate organisations to join government efforts in providing essential infrastructure and services for the benefit of the vulnerable population.

Mr Obi stated that the 500-bed centre had been his long-time dream and expected it to become fully operational by October 2025.

He commended Mr Soludo for his developmental achievements across the state, particularly hailing the newly constructed government house and governor’s lodge as a “mini city.”
