Gridlock, anxiety as schools resume in Kwara
On Tuesday morning, gridlock and anxiety enveloped Ilorin and its environs as private and public schools resumed academic activities.
There was traffic gridlock on major roads that hitherto had free movement while schools were on vacation. Students were seen at bus stops waiting to board vehicles while private car owners were hurrying to meet resumption time with their children.
Some students said they were happy to resume school after the holidays, which had Easter and Eid-el-Fitr celebrations.
Monsurat Adeyemi of Cherubim and Seraphim School said she enjoyed her holiday and was eager to resume meeting with her friends as she was holed up at home during the break.
Another student, Michael Idowu, said the resumption would allow him to train well for the upcoming basketball championship he wanted to participate in.
A parent, Bolanle Osunde, said the resumption was a relief for her as she had struggled with where to keep her children while she went to work.
