Group says Tinubu’s re-election critical to economy development

The Forum of Governorship Candidates of the Democratic Leadership Alliance (DLA) says the re-election of President Bola Tinubu in 2027 is critical to the country’s economy and infrastructure development.
Aboki Bayonga, the chairman of the forum and its Taraba governorship candidate, said this at a news conference held on Friday in Abuja.
He said the forum would work with Arewa for Asiwaju (A4A), a political pressure group, for the re-election of Mr Tinubu because DLA has no presidential candidate for the upcoming 2027 presidential election.
He said the party, however, had senatorial and House of Assembly candidates and 15 governorship candidates across the country and would work to ensure their victory in 2027.
He explained that members of the party had decided to align with the All Progressives Congress (APC) to work for the re-election in the general election.
“We are declaring our support for President Tinubu as our Presidential Leadership Alliance candidate in 2027 on the platform of Arewa for Asiwaju.
“It is not that we have dropped our aspirations as a party but as for the presidential election, we are for Tinubu. We will work and do everything possible to ensure that Tinubu is re-elected in 2027 because he has done well to deserve a second term.
“Looking at the achievements of the Tinubu-led administration in all the sectors, and when compared to other presidential candidates, it is obvious that he will do more if given another four years,” he said.
Mr Bayonga said that with the introduction of the Education Loans Scheme by the Tinubu-led administration, students could now go to higher institutions with less stress on their parents.
He said that the administration had also done well in infrastructure development with either completed or ongoing road and rail constructions in different parts of the country.
He said that members of the forum, in collaboration with A4A, would harness their political structures and grassroots support to mobilise votes from the 19 northern states, especially and other parts of the country for Mr Tinubu.
