The Doctors On Call Health Support Initiative says it has begun plans to train 10,000 Nigerians to strengthen emergency response and expand digital healthcare access nationwide.

Adejobi Adeloye, the initiative’s founder, disclosed this at a news conference in Abuja on Friday, while unveiling the NovaDOC integrated emergency response and digital health ecosystem.

Mr Adeloye said the initiative was designed to address persistent gaps in emergency care, healthcare access, youth unemployment and medical brain drain in Nigeria.

“We promised to train 10,000 Nigerians, and we are delivering on that promise today.

“We will nurture 1,000 of these trainees to become long-term certified facilitators and provide 10,000 immediate dignified jobs in the first phase,” he said.

He explained that the ecosystem combined emergency healthcare kits, a digital telehealth platform and a learning management system (LMS) to improve healthcare delivery and skills development.

According to him, the initiative seeks to ensure that emergency healthcare tools become accessible in homes, offices, vehicles, military units and transport systems across the country.

“This is more than a healthcare solution. It is a national movement for life, livelihoods and unity,” he said.

Mr Adeloye said the NovaDOC learning management system was designed to deliver large-scale emergency response and healthcare training across Nigeria and among Nigerians in the diaspora.

He added that the platform supported multilingual and flexible learning, thereby allowing users to access training regardless of location or time zone.

According to him, the initiative also plans to reconnect Nigerian healthcare professionals abroad with communities at home through telemedicine services.

“With this, Nigerian doctors and specialists in the diaspora can provide real-time telehealth consultations and emergency guidance to citizens back home,” he said.

Mr Adeloye further said that the NovaDOC telehealth platform would connect emergency responders, healthcare facilities, and diaspora medical professionals into a single coordinated system.

He explained that the initiative had also developed four specialised emergency healthcare kits tailored for military personnel, homes and public spaces, vehicles, and aviation or luxury transport systems.

The founder said the kits were equipped with emergency supplies, diagnostic tools, and real-time digital connectivity to enable rapid medical intervention.

He said the system would support treatment for trauma, snakebite, blood pressure monitoring, blood sugar checks and emergency first aid.

Mr Adeloye said that the initiative was pursuing partnerships with the federal government, state governments, development organisations and private investors to support implementation.

He said the project’s funding model combined public-sector support, diaspora investment, subscription programmes, and community partnerships to ensure long-term sustainability.

“We are building a self-sustaining healthcare system that eliminates dependence on one source of funding and guarantees wider access for Nigerians,” he said.

He added that the organisation was engaging government institutions for policy backing, subsidies and integration into existing healthcare and emergency response frameworks.

Mr Adeloye, therefore, called on Nigerians in the diaspora to invest in the initiative through direct funding, endowment contributions and community support programmes.

He said the project would be implemented in phases, beginning with trainee onboarding, pilot kit deployment and activation of the digital learning

He said subsequent phases would focus on a nationwide rollout, the expansion of telehealth services, and long-term sustainability through recurring funding programmes.

Mr Adeloye expressed confidence that the initiative would reduce preventable deaths associated with delayed emergency care and improve access to healthcare services.

“We will turn brain drain into brain gain, eradicate youth unemployment and build a healthier and more prosperous Nigeria,” he said.

The NovaDOC ecosystem is expected to integrate emergency response, telemedicine and digital skills development into a unified healthcare support system targeting communities across the country.
