A socio-political group, the Atunluse Asoludero Movement, says the Osun government should stop the blame game over the alleged killing of five people in Akinlalu community, Ife North Local Government Area of the state.

This is contained in a statement by the head of the group, Oluwasegun Omole, on Saturday in Osogbo.

Residents of Akinlalu had accused operatives of the Western Nigeria Security Network, Amotekun Corps in Osun, of killing three residents on September 30.

The residents alleged that the Amotekun men acted without provocation and took away the corpses of those they killed after the attack.

They also alleged that about 10 people sustained gunshot injuries in the attack and were admitted for treatment in hospitals in Ipetumodu, Gbongan, and Yakooyo.

The police in Osun also confirmed the arrest of five persons in connection with the killings.

A statement by the police public relations officer in the state, DSP Abiodun Ojelabi, said investigations revealed that the attackers were members of Amotekun Corps in the state.

The offices of Amotekun were subsequently closed by the police.

Mr Omole, however, said that the state government should stop playing politics with the killings and creating unnecessary tension in the state.

He also said that the recent statement by a group, “Concerned Citizens of Osun,” defending the alleged killings by Amotekun officers, is shameful and uncalled for.

According to him, it is laughable and deeply disturbing that any reasonable group would defend Amotekun as a lawful and community-oriented security agency, given its record of killing and terrorising innocent Osun citizens since its inception.

“How many of those so-called concerned citizens have themselves been affected by the murderous acts of the Amotekun group?” he asked.

“The attack on Sen. Francis Fadahunsi, representing Osun East Senatorial District, by the group for involving the police in the sealing of Amotekun offices is baseless.

“It is no exaggeration to say that Sen. Fadahunsi remains the true voice of the masses and cannot be silenced by the state government.

“Both PDP and Gov. Adeleke of Osun must stop dragging Osun into unnecessary tension and political theatrics,” he said.

Mr Omole also called on the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, to immediately arrest the state commander of Amotekun Corps and others who might have been involved in the alleged killings.
