The Police in Osun State said it arrested a 34-year-old guard in Ikire town with a Toyota Camry car allegedly stolen from the company where he works in Lagos.

This is contained in a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abiodun Ojelabi, on Thursday in Osogbo.

Mr Ojelabi said that the suspect was arrested on July 10 at about 5 p.m. while driving the stolen vehicle.

He said that in the process of checking the car’s documents by the police officers, the suspect took to his heels but was later arrested.

The police spokesperson said that during interrogation, the suspect confessed that he stole the car from Poget Care Homes Foundation, Badagry, Lagos State, where he worked as a guard.

According to him, a representative of the company later identified the suspect as one of their employees and confirmed that he stole the car with other items on July 8 while on duty.

Similarly, Mr Ojelabi said that one of five suspected cult members was arrested in Ilesa while trying to sell a stolen black Lexus jeep.

The police spokesperson said that subsequent investigation led to the arrest of another suspect in Aramoko in Ekiti.

According to him, further investigations revealed that the suspects on June 20 robbed one Abraham Friday and Okah Andre at their residence in Akungba in Ondo State.

“The suspects stole a Lexus jeep, iPhones, and other valuable items before killing the victims. Another suspect, who robbed a boutique store on June 22 in Ile-Ife and stole items worth N800,000 from the boutique with a locally made pistol, was arrested. The suspect confessed that he bought the pistol from one Taiwo Awoniran for N60,000 in Modakeke town who was later arrested with three other shotguns. All the suspects will be prosecuted at the conclusion of investigations.’’

The State Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Gotan, appealed to residents to continue to support the police by giving prompt and actionable information to aid in improving security in the state.
