Gunmen invade Kwara community, kill one

One person was killed and several others abducted after suspected bandits invaded Sodo/Sawmill area of Lafiagi in the Edu Local Government Area of Kwara State.
A community source, who spoke on condition of anonymity to the Peoples Gazette on Tuesday for fear of attack, said the incident happened around 8pm on Monday.
“The attack took place around 8pm. We learnt that the attack was targeted at a Fulani resident. But when they arrived, they didn’t meet the person at home. Members of his family were abducted,” a source said.
Another resident confirmed that the assailants killed a resident identified as Ndagba when they were about to leave the community.
The resident also said family members of the victim were also abducted.
“When they were about leaving the settlement, the bandits noticed light coming from the house of Ndagba. They stormed the resident, shot him and left with a member of his family,” the resident stated.
The state police spokesperson SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi could not be reached immediately for comment as calls and message sent to her mobile were unanswered as of the time this report was filed.
The latest incident came days after bandits killed three worshippers and abducted 15 others at a prayer ground in Ori-Oke Ajaiye in Ikiran Village, Ekiti council area of the state.
