Gunmen killed six people including three police officers in an attack on the convoy of Apostle Johnson Suleman, the general overseer of Omega Fire Ministries International, in Edo State on Friday.

The incident happened around 5:00 p.m. at Water Tanker Junction, Warrake Road, in the Auchi area of Edo State.

Mr Suleman had just returned from a foreign trip and was heading to Edo State for a ministration when gunmen attacked his convoy.

The gunmen shot sporadically for minutes and allegedly killed three police officers and three staff members.

The attacked vehicle was littered with bullets leading to the deflation of the vehicle tires.

Police spokesman in Edo, Chidi Nwabuzor, confirmed that six people including three police officers were killed during the attack, adding that a female domestic staff is presently receiving medical treatment.

He said that the officers at Auchi police station pursued the miscreants and shot one of them dead.

“At 5:00 p.m of today, the convoy of Apostle Johnson Suleman of Omega Fire Ministry was attacked at Auchi town. Three policemen were killed, two civilian drivers, a female civilian staff and one of the female staff is on discharge now.

“Immediately the divisional police officer in charge of Auchi responded to that distress call and gunned down one of the hoodlums. He recovered one of their vehicles.

“Aggressive manhunt of those criminals who fled from the scene is ongoing,” Mr Nwabuzor said.
