Arjen Robben was not present for the start of pre-season training on Saturday at Dutch club Groningen.

But the club later said he was yet to make his mind whether to play for another year or end his career.

Winger Robben, 37, returned to his boyhood club last year after a long and successful spell at Bayern Munich.

The former Dutch international was plagued by injuries but felt better towards the end of the past season which gave him hope of playing another season.

“Arjen is going through his own programme. We are in contact and are giving him all the time in the world,” Groningen technical director Mark-Jan Fledderus said.

“We have said it before that we hope Arjen will add another year, but we will respect any decision he makes.”
