Kwara State Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq has vowed to end killings and kidnappings in the state.

Terrorists had attacked several communities in the state, particularly in Edu, Patigi, Kaiama, Ifelodun and other local governments, killing hundreds of residents and holding many others hostage.

In his Democracy Day statement on Friday, Mr Abdulrazaq said, “I want to reassure Kwarans that we will see the end of the security breaches in some parts of the state.

“I am in constant engagement with relevant stakeholders to ensure sustainable peace and safety across our communities, including freeing our compatriots still in captivity.”

The governor further urged citizens to remain resolute and united, adding that his administration remains committed to delivering the dividends of democracy to all.

“My message to Kwarans and fellow citizens across the nation is to stay resolute, guard our hard-earned struggle jealously, and work together to defeat the evil forces threatening our peace, security and development.

“Our administration remains committed to entrenching the ideals of democracy and spreading its dividends to all. I, therefore, welcome contributions on ways to forge ahead at all times,” Mr Abdulrazaq added.

The governor’s reassurances came amid protests in Ilorin, the state capital, over the prolonged captivity of 176 kidnapped residents and persistent killings and kidnappings across the state.
