The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) has appealed to President Muhammadu Buhari’s regime for more time to sell petrol at the official price of N195 per litre.

Joseph Akanni, IPMAN vice-chairman in western zone, made the appeal on Monday in Ibadan.

Mr Akanni, while disclosing that all IPMAN chairmen were on their way to hold a meeting in Abuja, said all that the association was asking was for time to sell all the products its members bought at a high price.

He said the association’s leadership had cautioned members against buying fuel at higher prices.

According to Mr Akanni, most members purchased fuel from private depots about a month ago, but just received the them.

“We have pleaded with the authority to give us time to sell off the products, and this is against the backdrop that our members want to go on a rampage. That is not true,” he said.

Nigerians have had a hard time due to the prevailing fuel scarcity and hike in the price of the product ranging from N190 to N420 per litre.
