Iran’s trust in the United States has dropped to “below zero” following Washington’s involvement in Israel’s military strikes against Iran, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei said on Monday.

Speaking at a weekly press conference, Mr Baghaei responded to a question about Iran’s preconditions for resuming nuclear negotiations with the U.S., saying there was currently no decision on restarting talks.

“We have no trust in the United States,” he said. “Israel’s attack on Iran amid the (indirect0] negotiations, and the U.S. participation in the attack later, have basically left no room for even zero trust (in Washington).”

He confirmed that while formal negotiations remained stalled, indirect talks and message exchanges through mediators were still ongoing.

Mr Baghaei also condemned ongoing U.S. sanctions, saying they undermine international norms and free trade.

Tensions escalated on June 13, just two days before the sixth round of indirect nuclear talks, when Israel launched a series of major airstrikes on Iran, targeting nuclear and military facilities. The strikes reportedly killed senior commanders, nuclear scientists, and numerous civilians.

In response, Iran launched multiple missile and drone attacks on Israel.

On June 22, U.S. forces bombed three key Iranian nuclear facilities: Natanz, Fordow, and Isfahan. Iran retaliated by striking the U.S. Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar.
