The chief imam of Al-Furqan Mosque, Nasarawa GRA, Kano State, Bashir Umar, has warned Muslims against extravagant spending.

Mr Umar made the call on Friday in Kano while delivering the Jum’at sermon.

“Avoid Israf (extravagance): The Quran condemns Israf, which refers to wasteful spending, particularly when it goes beyond one’s means.

“In Surah Al-A’raf (7:31), it is stated, ‘Indeed, He does not like the wasteful.’ The verse encourages Muslim Ummah to avoid excessiveness and to spend wisely,” he said.

The cleric urged the faithful to give charity and help the less privileged and stressed that wealth should be used for good causes.

According to him, in Islam, it is encouraged to support those in need rather than spending excessively on personal luxuries.

The imam also called on wealthy individuals to support the less-privileged to alleviate their sufferings.

The Islamic scholar called on the government and others in authority to provide basic amenities to the people.

He further urged the state’s people to continue praying against hardship and insecurity.
