The Israeli military said that it carried out fresh strikes overnight against facilities linked to Iran’s internal security leadership.

According to the military, targets included command centres associated with Iran’s internal security authorities and the Basij militia in the city of Isfahan.

The Basij has been widely criticised for its role in suppressing protests in recent months.

Israeli forces also reported striking long-range ballistic missile launch sites and a rocket-engine production facility in Iran.

In response, Iran launched further missile attacks on Israel overnight.

Warning sirens sounded across parts of the country, including in the greater Tel Aviv area.

Israel’s emergency service, Magen David Adom, said around 20 people were injured, several of them after falling while rushing to shelters.
