IWD: NSCDC tasks female personnel on more commitment to tackling insecurity

The NSCDC boss praised the female officers for choosing to serve in the country’s security sector.

• March 9, 2024

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has urged female personnel to be more determined and committed.

The Ogun commandant of the corps, David Ojelabi, made the call in an interview in Abeokuta to commemorate the United Nations 2024 International Women’s Day (IWD).

“I use this medium to appeal to you never to relent in your efforts,” said Mr Ojelabi. “I canvass for more commitment on your part at tackling insecurity challenges as they spring up.”

However, he commended the dedication and bravery of the female personnel in fighting insecurity nationwide.

Mr Ojelabi praised the female officers for choosing to serve in the country’s security sector.

“As International Women’s Day is celebrated annually and globally, NSCDC, Ogun Command, celebrates our women in the corps.

“In line with this year’s theme, which is ‘Invest in Women: Accelerate Progress’, the command will continue to do its best to invest and enhance their performance,” he said.

He assured that the efforts, contributions, loyalty, and dedication of the female personnel to the attainment of the goals of the corps would not go unappreciated.

The NSCDC boss said the corps was aware that criminals often developed new tactics to attack unsuspecting public members and destroy critical facilities.

He, however, reiterated the commitment of the corps to ensure the safety of lives and property.
