Iyabo Ojo breaks silence, speaks on Funke, Toyin’s snub drama at movie premier

Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo has spoken on the rumored tension between Funke Akindele and Toyin Abraham Ajeyemi, saying she made personal efforts to reconcile both actresses.
In a post shared on Tuesday, Ms Ojo said she had a long-standing relationship with Ms Akindele, noting that while they had disagreements in the past, they later resolved them.
She admitted to previously criticising Ms Akindele publicly over an issue involving Ms Ajeyemi’s film, describing it as “a wrong move on my part” that should have been handled differently.
Ms Ojo said she later stepped in to resolve the issue between both actresses.
“I tried my very best to settle both of them, cried, knelt down, begged both parties to embrace peace,” she said, adding that they agreed to keep any future issues away from social media.
According to her, the understanding led to their public interaction in a movie premiere months ago, which fans interpreted as a reconciliation.
However, she said tension resurfaced in December after Ms Ajeyemi complained about her movie in cinemas, alleging that someone was trying to sabotage her.
Ms Ojo said fans then pointed fingers at Ms Akindele, and “that sparked up a fresh beef.”
She also addressed claims surrounding her film ‘The Return of Arinzo,’ explaining that Ms Ajeyemi was initially expected to be part of the project.
“Toyin was supposed to be in it but she said she was exhausted, and she also had to travel, so she pulled out last minute,” she said.
Ms Ojo noted that the decision affected production plans, and parts of the story had to be rewritten to meet deadlines, although both parties later resolved the issue.
Speaking further, she said “the sky is big enough for all,” adding that she would no longer intervene in the matter.
“I can’t beg anyone anymore,” she said, urging the public to allow both actresses resolve their differences privately.
Ms Ojo added that she still holds both actresses in high regard despite the ongoing situation.
Her clarification trailed a viral video of Ms Akindele ignoring Ms Ajeyemi’s greeting at the premier of Ms Ojo’s movie, raising suspicion on the animosity between the two actors.
