The Commissioner of Police in Jigawa State, Mr Ahmadu Abdullahi, has ordered area commanders, divisional police officers and operational commanders in the state to lead this year’s Yuletide operations.

This is contained in a statement to journalists issued by the command’s Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Lawan Shiisu, in Dutse.

“In view of the forthcoming Christmas/boxing day and New Year celebrations, the command under the leadership of the Commissioner of Police, Mr Ahmadun Abdullahi, wishes to felicitate with the Christian community and the general public in the state and to reiterate the commitment towards ensuring hitch-free celebrations.

“Consequently, the CP has directed the deputy commissioner of police, department of operations to coordinate and ensure that all the area commanders, divisional police officers, and operational commanders lead this year’s Yuletide operations,” the PPRO said.

Mr Shiisu said Mr Abdullahi urged the officers to ensure a high level of visibility policing and confidence building patrols around the worship centres, recreational and residential areas, as well as other places of public resorts to prevent any infiltration by hostile elements.

He explained that to achieve this, the police chief also ordered a robust deployment of officers and men, comprising conventional police, mobile policemen and state intelligence bureau operatives of the command, as well as necessary logistics to churches and venues of events across the state.

The PPRO added that the CP further called on parents/guardians to caution their wards against any act of public disturbance as the command would not hesitate to clamp down on any miscreant who might want to use the period to foment trouble or disrupt public peace.

According to him, the command called on the members of the public to be security conscious and report any suspicious movement of persons to the nearest police or other security agencies for immediate intervention, or call the command’s emergency phone number 08075391069.

“On behalf of the entire police officers in the state, the Commissioner of Police, A. T Abdullahi, felicitate with the Jigawa State Christian community as they celebrate this year’s Christmas and equally wish all the good people of Jigawa State a prosperous New Year in advance,” The PPRO added.
