Governor Umar Namadi of Jigawa on Tuesday signed the 2025 budget of N689.3 billion into law describing it as the “highest” in the history of the state.
Speaking shortly after the ceremony in Dutse, Mr Namadi pledged to make Jigawa greater as he signed the second appropriation bill since assuming office.
“The important thing is that about 76 per cent of the budget is for capital projects, and this shows our stride and our desire to develop Jigawa state,” Mr Namadi said.
The governor commended the state House of Assembly for the expeditious passage of the appropriation bill. He added that the scrutiny and speed signified the synergy between the executive and the legislature.
He also called for continued collaborations among all arms of government to ensure the effective delivery of democratic dividends to the people.
The State House of Assembly passed the budget on Monday following the adoption of the report by the House Standing Committee on Appropriation.
The 2025 appropriation bill titled: “Budget of Innovation and Transformation for Greater Jigawa” comprises N90,730,520,000 personnel cost, other recurrent expenditure N70,171,960,00 and N537,397,000,520 capital development programmes.
