Jigawa govt increases monthly allowance for persons with disabilities to N10,000

The Jigawa government has increased the monthly allowance for Persons Living With Disabilities (PWDs) in the state from N7,000 to N10,000.

Sagir Musa, the Commissioner for Information, Youths, Sports and Culture, made this known on Friday in Dutse.

Mr Musa said the state government had also approved an increase in beneficiaries in each of the 27 local government areas from 150 to 200.

He explained that the approval was given at the State Executive Council (SEC) meeting on Thursday.

The commissioner added that the council also approved the establishment of a database of orphans, orphanages, and vulnerable and aged populations, following a memo presented by the Ministry of Women Affairs and physical verification/validation of PWDs.

He said, “Following deliberations on the memo, the council unanimously approved an upward review of the monthly allowance for each person living with disability from N7,000 to N10,000.

“The council also approved an increase in the number of beneficiaries in each of the 27 local government areas from 150 to 200.”
