The Jama’atu Nasril Islam has condemned the abduction of schoolgirls from the Government Girls’ Comprehensive Secondary School, Maga, Kebbi, describing it as utterly condemnable and avoidable.

The condemnation is contained in a statement by JNI secretary-general, Khalid  Aliyu, on Wednesday in Kaduna.

“JNI  received with absolute shock, the most unfortunate abduction of schoolgirls from the Government Girls’ Comprehensive Secondary School (GGCSS), Maga, Danko-Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi, coming barely some days after a security summit was held in Birnin-Kebbi on November 10.

“This tragic and heartless but avoidable recurring abduction of schoolgirls remains utterly condemnable in its entirety, especially that it is coming after several similar incidents of Chibok, Dapchi, then Kankara, Kagara, and now Maga,” said the statement.

It criticised the “seeming lack of synergy” between the security operatives in Kebbi and called for immediate action to rescue the abducted girls.

JNI also commiserated with the families of the killed Vice-Principal and parents of the victims, and urged the Muslims to offer special prayers for the safe return of the girls.

“This is too much to bear on the parents since the unfortunate occurrence of the Maga abduction,” the Islamic body added.

It called on the government to use all means possible to rescue the abducted girls and also provide maximum security cover for girls’ schools.

“Government must spare no effort to immediately return all our abducted schoolgirls of Maga, remaining Dapchi and Chibok girls in captivity and other places.

“Likewise, fervent observance of remembrance of Allah should also be ventured into by all Muslims, as it is a vital tool for easing fears, tension, and uncertainties such as the myriad security challenges bedeviling Nigeria.

“Government at all levels, in collaboration with different security agencies, must rise against the tide of insecurity in whatever guise, through proactive measures and nipping it in the bud, before it becomes cataclysmic for the Nigerian state. We also pray for Allah’s continuous guidance, strength, and stamina to all those on the battlefields against all forms of criminalities in Nigeria,” said JNI.
