American actor Jonathan Majors has revealed his disappointment over Robert Downey Jr. being cast as ‘Doctor Doom’ in the upcoming ‘Avengers’ movies.

Despite this, Majors expressed his willingness to return as ‘Kang the Conqueror’ if given the opportunity.

In a brief interview with TMZ, Jonathan Majors, expressing his disappointment, said, “Yeah, heartbroken. I love him. I love Kang.”

When asked about the fairness of Hollywood’s treatment of actors like Downey and Ezra Miller, who have had legal issues but continue to get opportunities, Majors said, “I think it’s fair that Mr Downey has been greeted with patience and curiosity and love, and that Mr Miller has gotten the same treatment, and that they’re being allowed to work their art and be creative at that level. I didn’t really get that, so.”

Despite this, Majors expressed his willingness to return as Kang the Conqueror if given the opportunity, saying, “I love Kang… If that’s what the fans want, if that’s what Marvel wants, let’s roll. Hell yeah.”

Marvel’s decision to cast Downey Jr. as ‘Doctor Doom’, one of the franchise’s most iconic villains, marks a significant shift, especially following the controversies surrounding Majors.

Until the character’s death in Avengers: Endgame, Downey played Tony Stark, also known as Iron Man. The next Avengers film has been retitled as ‘Doomsday’ to signify the change.

The announcement was made at Comic-Con 2024, generating mixed reactions from the audience.

Some fans are excited to see Downey Jr. take on a new, complex character, while others criticise the move.

The lead villain role in the next two Avengers films, including The Kang Dynasty, was initially assigned to Majors.

However, Disney dropped the actor last year when he was convicted of assaulting and harassing his ex-girlfriend, Grace Jabbari.
