Jos resident handed six-month prison sentence for theft

The Area Court in Jos on Monday sentenced one Destiny Okopi to six months’ imprisonment for deceit and theft of N60,000.
The judge, Irene Pati, sentenced the convict after he pleaded guilty to the offence.
The judge, however, gave the convict the option of a N30,000 fine.
The police prosecutor, Ijuptil Daniel, told the court that the case was reported at the Nasarawa Gwong Police Station on November 25, 2025, by the complainant, Emmanuel Israel.
Mr Daniel said that Mr Israel told the police that the now convicted person went to his shop and deceived his salesperson by telling her that he sent him to get N60,000.
He said that during the police investigation, the now convicted confessed to having committed the offence, and the money was found in his possession.
