The Area Court in Jos on Wednesday sentenced Abdullahi Usman to 12 months’ imprisonment for  enticing a married woman and for defaming her.

The judge, Irene Pati, sentenced the convict after he pleaded guilty to the offence.

The judge, however, gave the convict the option of a N50,000 fine or 12 months’ imprisonment for enticement and defamation.

The police prosecutor, Ibrahim Gokwat, told the court that the case was reported at the Angwan Rogo  police station on November 24, 2025, by Hamza Aliyu.

According to Mr Gokwat, the complainant alleged Mr Usman called his wife and asked her to meet him in a hotel, adding that if she failed to show up, Mr Usman threatened he would inform her husband that she was involved in extramarital affairs and had aborted several pregnancies.

The prosecutor further told the court that during a police investigation, Mr Usman had confessed to committing the offence.
