Bandits abduct NLC chairman

Bandits operating in Taraba have abducted Peter Jediel, state chairman of Nigeria Labour Congress.
The incident occurred on Sunday at Mr. Jediel’s residence in Sunkani in Ardo Kola Local Government Area, Daily Trust reported.
This came barely two-weeks when gunmen suspected to be herders killed Salihu Dovo, chairman of the local government shortly after he was whisked away at gunpoint.
Peoples Gazette had reported that the assailants took the deceased to an undisclosed location and contacted his family members a few hours later to come for his dead body where they abandoned it in a bush. Governor Darius Ishaku condemned the killing and slammed President Muhammadu Buhari for failing to secure the country.
Reports said the bandits, numbering up to a dozen, breached Mr. Jediel residence around 1:12 a.m. and started shooting sporadically before gaining entrance into his house.
The NLC chairman was taken away to an undisclosed location, reports said.
Taraba police spokesman David Misal Peoples Gazette that he has been transferred from the state and no substantive replacement has been named as of Sunday evening.
