Lamidi Adeyemi, 45th Alaafin of Oyo, is dead at 83

The Alaafin of Oyo has passed on, Peoples Gazette has been told.
Lamidi Adeyemi passed on between late Friday and early Saturday morning after receiving treatments at a university hospital, a state official familiar with the development said, citing Oyo Local Government Area chairman, although details of his demise. He was 83.
The LGA chairman has informed Governor Seyi Makinde, the official said, but we won’t be able to release an official statement until much later.
Mr Adeyemi’s death was first reported by Premium Times, which said traditional burial rites have commenced for the foremost traditional ruler on Saturday morning.
Mr Adeyemi was born on October 15, 1938, and coronated on January 14, 1971, succeeding Gbadegesin Ladigbolu.
