KADIRS seals United Nigerian Textiles Limited over alleged N1.2 billion tax default

The Kaduna State Internal Revenue Service on Thursday sealed the erstwhile famous but now moribund Kaduna United Nigerian Textiles Limited over alleged N1.2 billion tax liabilities.
This was disclosed to journalists after the operations by the Board Secretary and Legal Adviser of KADIRS, Ms Aysha Ahmad..
She said that the tax liabilities were accrued for ground rent, fire service and the Kaduna State Environmental Protection Agency among other taxes.
Ms Ahmad said that the last time the textile communicated with KADIRS was in 2022, where a tax audit was done but no positive response from the company
Ms Ahmad, however, said the taxes were accrued for six years.
She alleged that KADIRS got intelligence reports that UNTL was planning to leave the state.
She said, “We just have to collect what is ours.’’
Ms Ahmad urged the residents of the state to prioritise voluntary tax compliance, describing it as a fundamental civic duty.
