A petrol station manager, Philip Dogo, 38, on Thursday appeared before a Kaduna Magistrates’ Court charged with stealing 4,000 litres of petrol worth N6 million.

The defendant, whose address was not provided, pleaded not guilty to the two counts of conspiracy and stealing levelled against him.

Earlier, the Prosecutor, Inspector Chidi Leo, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on May 25 at about 6.00 p.m., at Reman filling station, Maraban Rido, Kaduna.

Mr Leo said that the defendant, who is a manager at the said filling station, conspired with two others at large and stole 4,000 litres of petrol valued at N6 million.

He further said that the owner of the station, Raymond Monday, discovered during an audit that fuel was being stolen and handed the manager over to the Police for prosecution.

The Magistrate, Ibrahim Emmanuel, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N1m with two sureties in like sum.

He said one of the sureties must be a blood relation to the defendant living in Kaduna while the other must be a religious leader.
