Governor Abba Yusuf has assured the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) of maximum cooperation in the fight against corruption in Kano.

On Thursday, the ICPC spokesperson, Azuka Ogugua, said this in Abuja.

Ms Ogugua explained that the governor gave the assurance when ICPC management, led by its chairman, Musa Aliyu, paid him a courtesy visit in Kano.

The governor expressed delight with the visit and commended the appointment of the ICPC boss by President Bola Tinubu as a testament to his pedigree and undiluted commitment to the Nigerian project.

He commended the government for putting mechanisms such as ICPC and EFCC in place, noting that the agencies would help curb impunity in the system.

“It may interest the ICPC management to know that my administration’s zero tolerance on corruption and related tendencies remain sacrosanct.

“Thus, in ensuring the successful implementation of this government’s anti-corruption policies, I prioritised a preventive approach without compromising the existing curative mechanisms in the state’s Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission (PCACC),” he said.

Earlier, the ICPC boss thanked the governor for granting the commission audience, explaining that the ICPC had held a management retreat in Kano, and it was only proper to pay courtesy to the governor.

He recalled the previous partnership of the ICPC with the Kano’s PCACC in training, calling for a continued partnership with the agency in the fight against corruption.
