Kano governor approves promotion of 20,500 teaching, non-teaching staff

Governor Abba Kabir-Yusuf of Kano has approved the promotion of 20,542 primary and junior secondary school teachers and non-teaching staff for 2023 and 2024.
The chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Yusuf Kabir, announced this during a meeting with education stakeholders on Monday in Kano.
Mr Kabir said the governor also approved the implementation of the promotion to the affected staff this October in order to boost their morale.
He urged the beneficiaries to rededicate themselves to their duties to reciprocate the government’s good gesture to them and the education system.
He also appealed to community leaders, Islamic clerics, and related organisations to sensitise parents on the importance of enrolling their children in schools.
Stakeholders at the meeting commended the governor for his strides in education, citing his efforts in distributing learning materials, constructing and renovating classrooms, and training teachers.
