Kano govt, Dangote Foundation sign MoU on skills acquisition centre

The Kano government has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Aliko Dangote Foundation to take over and manage the Aliko Dangote Skills Acquisition Centre for 20 years.
According to a statement by Sanusi Bature, the spokesperson for Governor Abba Yusuf, on Wednesday, the agreement aimed to reposition the centre and maximise its potential to provide entrepreneurial and vocational training opportunities for youths across Kano.
He stated that the MoU was signed on Tuesday, with the state government represented by the secretary to the state government, Umar Ibrahim, and the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Abdulkareem Maude.
The foundation was represented by its programme manager (North), Sanusi Abdulkadir, and programme support officer, Mustapha Umar.
The governor said the foundation’s involvement would bring significant development to the centre and the state at large.
Mr Yusuf also said the foundation had the technical and managerial expertise to transform the centre into one of the leading entrepreneurial and vocational training institutions in Nigeria and the West African sub-region.
He explained that the decision to hand over the centre’s management followed the State Executive Council’s approval to ensure the adoption of best practices in vocational training.
The governor expressed confidence that Aliko Dangote, as one of the state’s sons, would contribute his expertise and resources to developing the skills and entrepreneurial capacity of the state’s teeming youths.
