Kano: NFSS says 149 crime complaints received in July
The Nigeria Forest and Security Service in Kano says it received 149 crime complaints in July. This is contrary to the 83 complaints the service reported receiving in June.
Usman Umar, an NFSS spokesman in Kano, disclosed this on Friday in Kano.
Mr Umar said the service is doing its best to live up to its mandate in the prevention and detection of crimes and illegal activities perpetrated in the forests.
“Out of the 149 complaints received, 93 had been treated and done with, while 56 were pending.
“Most of the cases were on bush burning, cattle rustling, car theft, motorcycle and tricycle theft, kidnapping, house and shop breaking, thuggery, and robbery, among others,” he said.
He added that NFSS would continue to secure and make forests free-crime zones.
Mr Umar also urged the public to report any criminal activities happening in their community and surroundings.
