Kano restates commitment to child welfare, quality education

Kano State Commissioner for Education, Ali Makoda, has reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to improving child welfare through the provision of quality education.
The government’s resolve is in a statement signed by the Director of Public Enlightenment, Balarabe Kiru, on Tuesday in Kano.
Mr Makoda, who congratulated children on the occasion of the 2025 Children’s Day, emphasised the importance of education in shaping the lives of children and the overall development of the society.
He stated that “education plays a vital role in the lives of children, offering numerous benefits that shape their future and contribute to national development.”
The commissioner urged parents and community members to collaborate with the government to ensure every child has access to quality education.
He said the administration of Governor Abba Yusuf had rolled out several programmes targeted at improving both basic and post-basic education in the state.
He urged children to use the occasion of Children’s Day to reflect on their significance as future leaders.
“While celebrating the day, I urge you to recognise the fact that you are the future leaders and contributors to the nation’s growth and development,” he said.
The commissioner added that children’s well-being remained a top priority in the Yusuf-led administration.
Children’s Day is celebrated on May 27 to honour children, raise awareness of their rights and promote their welfare.
