KASCO remits N200 million profit to Kano government

The Kano Agricultural Supply Company has remitted 60 per cent of its 2024 annual profit, amounting to ₦200.4 million, to the government. This is the first time in over a decade that KASCO has made such a remittance.
This was disclosed in a statement by Governor Abba Yusuf’s spokesperson, Sunusi Dawakin-Tofa, on Wednesday.
He said that KASCO recorded a profit of ₦334 million for the 2024 financial year, which the company described as a historic milestone.
Mr Dawakin-Tofa added that the governor had received the remittance and lauded KASCO’s management for restoring the company to profitability.
The governor assured continued government support to the form to sustain the momentum of growth and accountability across state-owned enterprises.
Meanwhile, Mr Yusuf has reiterated his administration’s commitment to financial inclusion and economic empowerment, particularly for women and young people. The governor made this known while inaugurating the Kano branch of Signature Bank on Tuesday.
Mr Yusuf described the establishment of the bank in Kano as a testament to the state’s investor-friendly policy and business-enabling environment.
He assured the bank’s management of the state government’s full support and cooperation.
Mr Yusuf said, “We are open for partnership and collaboration with all financial institutions to create an affordable and sophisticated business environment that supports entrepreneurs and drives prosperity.”
The governor commended the Sabon Gari business community for its commitment to prompt tax payment, which contributes significantly to the state’s revenue and economic stability.
The Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, who also spoke at the event, expressed confidence that Signature Bank would thrive in Kano, given the state’s promising market.
